Cabbage Cup

Zlurpee Bowl has been my favorite event in bloodbowl since I attended my first one Zlurpee Bowl XIII. This was no exception. This years rules had a special build for dwarf teams and of course I was going to lean into the theme.

I ran a lean team with no rerolls, and two stars making up 10th and 11th player. Many games had me lining up 10 men on turn one as Golden Toe Joe had booked playing for my opponent as well. Thankfully I had my Mascot Peppy Bismuth, who really got the fans going and barely got me a reroll, but it’s the vibes that matter.

Game 1 had me facing a newer coach by the name Reaperofsoa, he was coaching skaven for this first go around. Given that my whole game plan relied on removals with Bobby Big Gulp doing work, I gave him a sorry in advance. It went my way and I got the 2-0 win while causing 6 casualties.

Round 2 had me facing Borror’s humans at table 1. Borror and I have a pretty good rivalry after his dwarves elfed my elves at Buckeye Bash last year. I wanted my vengeance. He started off with a 2 die block from his ogre that was a turnover on his first activation. The shit talk ran through the 16 turns and it ended 2-0 for the packers who got 2 casualties.

Round 3/Table 3 vs Grither’s Orcs. I’ve been seeing more of Grither this year, and my favorite has been at Dungeonbowl during adepticon. This year Grither took my championship title from dungeonbowl and second sons from me. I can’t begrudge him because he is a top notch coach and a stand up guy. I really wish he wasn’t on his best this game because it turned into a solid thumping for me. He got it 0-3 with both of us causing 4 casualties. My dreams of best defense crushed against the rocks. I hope to see at Adepticon again.

Round 4/ Table 4 vs Warhok’s Humans. Game 4 of the day is always when I’m most cooked. I don’t remember much of this game but with the powers of BBTM.APP it looks like it was a 2-0 win with 5-2 casualties.

DAY 2

Round 5 has me playing NerdkingDan and his goblins. NerdkingDan goes onto win the FTLOTG championship and the best mascot award. Our Mascots were in the same vine of creativity but NerdKingDan’s execution was a lot better, so well earned there. Our match however was a 2-1 win for the Packers with 6-1 casualties.

Game 6/ Table 1. Oh geeze how did I get here? Table one vs JJ2’s Nurgle. JJ2 much like his father Grither is an outstanding dude. Great coach and a great person to sit across the table from for a match. These guys raise the bar on competition and sportsmanship by being excellent stewards of both. This was JJ2’s game from pretty early on. I had some heroics from my deathroller Lloyd Banks but they weren’t enough and I lost 0-3 with 1-4 casualties. It was an exciting game, with a lot of laughs.
